Christmas Tree Advent Calendar - TUTORIAL

Start by gathering your supplies. You will need:

  • 25 matchboxes
  • 3 different 12x12 scrapbooking papers
  • 12 inch paper trimmer
  • double-sided tape
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • number stickers

Next, take the inside drawers out of the boxes, set them aside and assemble the outer boxes like this.

Stick the pieces together in groups of two (one stack of 3) using the double sided tape.

Then tape them together like this.

Then cut 1 sheet of paper in strips slightly larger than the length of the boxes. To save paper only add paper to the exposed areas of the boxes. Add double-sided tape to these areas.

Wrap paper tightly around the boxes, creasing on the edges.

All pieces should now look like this.

Trim the excess paper for a neat finish.

Now they should look like this.

Now add double-sided tape to the bottom side of the top 3 layers and the top side of the bottom layer, no tape is needed on the largest layer.

Stick the 3rd layer to the 4th.

the 2nd layer to the 3rd.

the top piece to the 2nd.

and finally the bottom piece to it all.

Now you are ready to start prettying up the drawers!!

Measure the width of the inside of the drawers (only need to measure one). Cut strips of paper this width to fit inside the drawers.

Wrap one strip around the length of a drawer and cut to size. Cut all strips this length.

Cover strip with glue using the glue stick and adhere to the bottom of drawer first, wrapping the length around the drawer finishing on the inside end piece.

Some of the strips will be slightly too short, so........

you will need to glue them this way....

then add a rectangle of paper to the bottom, like this
OR if you prefer, you can do all the drawers this way.

let drawers dry for a few minutes.....

before assembling your tree. Alternate drawer colours for a nice pattern.

Add sticky numbers 1 - 25 to the front of drawers. Randomizing placement.
Feel free to decorate any way you wish!
Hope you enjoyed my tutorial and have a happy Christmas every year!!
